....to post your remedies and experiences here regarding anything to do with complimentary medicine.
There is so much more out there that we do not understand, nature has a wonderful way of healing and we should be using what nature offers.
I use homeopathy alot for myself and my dogs, I am starting to use essential oils and have just bought a book to learn more. I use herbal medicines and have had some great success with all of the above.
When looking to buy aromatherapy oils ....look first at where they are in the shop ... are they in or near the window ... don't buy .... are they under a nice bright spotlight ... don't buy .... are they in a prominent but brightly lit place ...don't buy ! ..... though they are kept in dark glass bottles light and heat start to break down the properties in the iol , all you'll be left with is nothing more than a pot pourrie fragrance ......
oils should be kept in a cool dark place ........ so if theyre in a fairly dark corner of the shop .... take the ones you weant from the back of the shelf ! .... when you get them home keep them pref in a cool cupboard where it's dark and stand them on a piece of marble or slate to keep them cool ......
i would say that there are only 2 ( there are a couple more ) that are safe to use neat .... the first is lavender a good antiseptic that aids healing , and the other one is tea tree again an all round antiseptic ..... for external use only !!! ...can be applied to spots grazes ( may sting a little )in growin toenails ect , really where you'd use a small amount of antiseptic cream ....another thing that lavender can be used neat on is minor burns ..i.e from the oven shelf etc .... or interestingly if you do not have any , get someone to grate / shred a carrot and apply that ( after you've immersed it in cold water for 10 /15 mins !and cover with a dressing .... the carrot has cooling effect ( the same applies to the oil... water (cold) first then oil and a dressing .... xx kev
Thanks LM1, I often use Lavender and teatree neat and both work really well. I need to build up a collection of oils, i have just bought myself an encyclopedia of essential oils and it looks fantastic and I have got quite a bit of info from Alan and Harmony aswell.
I love natural remedies and hate using what I call conventional drugs if I can possibly avoid it.
